When people are getting serious spine pain, usually their doctors will recommend them to wear back brace. Back brace is a device that will help them to limit their movements. It will make the recovery of the spine goes faster and avoid any accident.

There are many types of back braces. Each type is designed based on its function. Therefore, before we choose a certain type of back brace, we should know the type and the function first. That will help us to choose the right back brace based on our needs.

As I know, the types of back braces are Bracing for scoliosis, Boston brace, Milwaukee brace, Charleston bending brace, Spine Cor brace, Sport brace, Cheneau brace. But, I will take some types of braches to give information, not all.

Bracing for scoliosis is popular among the people who have scoliosis. The scoliosis is characterized by the side to side form of the spine. Thus, people who have scoliosis takes special bracing for scoliosis to aid them getting the normal spine form.

Then, we have Boston brace. Boston brace has its function to correct the curvature. But, it is recommended not to use for very high curves. It works by pushing the back forward with the pad on the brace.

Next, we have Milwaukee brace. The Milwaukee is designed to correct a high curvature spine. The brace runs from the pelvis all the way to the neck. Therefore, it is very frustrating because it is restrictive. The brace is worn for children. To get the maximum correction, they should wear the brace at least 23 hours a day for several years.

Types of Scoliosis Brace

Here are several types of commonly used scoliosis brace:
1.Charleston Bending Brace ( CBB / a Night Time Brace)This type of brace that worn only at night while the child is asleep, that’s why this is also called a “Night Time” brace. A Charleston back brace is that give corrective action of the brace which molded to the patient while they are bent to the side, and thus applies more pressure and bends the child against the curve. Since the brace is only worn at night, the patients can do their normal activity such as go to school and participate in sports normally without worry if their friends knowing they have scoliosis and under the brace treatment.

2.Thoraco-Lumbo-Sacral-Orthosis (TLSO Brace / Underarm Brace )This is the most common form of a TLSO Brace and it also known as an “underarm” brace, because it is placed exactly below underarm. This type of brace is usually prescribed for curves in the lumbar or thoraco-lumbar part of the spine. It can molded from plastic material then fitted to the child’s or adult body. The TLSO brace is works at three-point pressure to the curvature to prevent its progression. TLSO brace is commonly not noticeable because it can worn under your clothing. The patient must use The TLSO brace usually 24 hours in all day activity. TLSO brace can be taken off to cycling,swimming, aerobic, play other sports or even participate in gym class .

3.Cervico-Thoraco-Lumbo-Sacral-Orthosis (C-TLSO / a Milwaukee Brace)C-TLSO brace or The Milwaukee brace is almost similar to the TLSO brace which already described above, but for C-TLSO brace there is available additional a neck ring held in place by vertical bars attached to the body of the brace. This brace also usually worn 24 hours a day, and can be taken off to regular activity which covered any kind of sport or go to office.
